Jeff Capurso
Studio B Mastering
After receiving a B.S. in Editing from Radford University, Jeff moved to Athens, GA to pursue a career in music production. From '95-'98 he oversaw sound design and archiving for the Historic Morton Theater in downtown Athens (West Side Story, I Do, I Do, The King and I, Into The Woods, Little Shop of Horrors).
In 1999, Jeff provided the original score and sound design for the Off-Broadway play "Downfall" which ran in Athens and New York City. Then, in 2000, he scored the now infamous episode "Waking Quinn" for Adult Swim's Sealab 2021. (Cartoon Network:Season One)
Later that year he opened City Mastering, an analog and digital suite dedicated exclusively to audio post production, editing and restoration. Since then, Jeff has worked with some of the finest artists and comedians in the southeast, and around the country including Vic Chesnutt, The Melvins, Jack Logan, Drive-by Truckers, David Cross, Kevn Kinney, Brian Posehn, Don Chambers, Patton Oswalt, REM, Elf Power, Widespread Panic, Zach Galifinakis and Fiona Apple, and The Modern Skirts.
In 2005, Jeff began booking clients at David Barbe's Chase Park Transduction Studio B. Mastering clients include Warner Brothers, Relapse, Touch and Go, New West, Sub Pop, Warm, Darla, Fundamental, Kindercore, Asianman, Furlined, Saddle-Creek, Chunklet, Rykodisc, Orange Twin, Ghostmeat, Sky Bucket, Alternative Tentacle and Cosmo Sex School Records.
In 2009 Jeff worked with writer/director Robert Hall on the score for the horror film "Laid To Rest."
The Anchor Bay production starred Kevin Gage (Heat) and Lena Headey (300, The Sarah Connor Chronicles) and also featured music from Suicidal Tendencies. "Laid To Rest" went on to win a "Grimmy Award" for best Slasher Film for 2009 at the first Annual Grim Reaper Awards in Hollywood Ca.
Later that same year Jeff teamed up with CPT engineer Drew Vandenberg to work on Patton Oswalt's latest release "My Weakness is Strong." Drew handled mixing duties while Jeff did the editing and mastering.
The record went to receive a Grammy nomination for Comedy Album of the Year 2010. The album was recorded in Lisner Auditorium at George Washington University in Washington DC and is available through Warner Bros. Records.
